Luncheon
Teacher/Staff Appreciation
Each grade hosts a teacher/staff appreciation luncheon during the year. Our teachers and staff really enjoy it!
Organizing the luncheon is not difficult, with a little planning. A few weeks before your grade’s luncheon, your Grade Level Champion will contact the you (or designated class parent volunteer) to organize a quick meeting to pick a theme, design the menu, and divide up the responsibilities. This early preparation will hopefully prevent you from getting 30 lasagnas!
- November 4, 2009 – 4th and 5th Grades
- January 20, 2010 – 2nd and 3rd Grades
- March 17, 2010 – Kindergarten and 1st Grade
- May 4, 2010 – PTA
Be very explicit when letting the parents know what they are to bring. Tell them exactly what, how much, in what kind of container and how you would like the food presented. Explain where and when to bring the requested items. Remind them to bring serving utensils and to label their things (name and room number!)
Alternatively, the room parents can collect money ($5-$10 per student added to the letter to parents) and have the luncheon catered. This could be combined with potluck for drinks, desserts, etc. if some classes would rather do a potluck.
Remember to recruit volunteers for set-up and clean-up. You should also have some volunteers to replenish the luncheon. Here is a tentative schedule, but please double check with the office:
- 10:15 – 11:15 set up and decorate
- 11:15 – 12:00 1st shift (staff, aides and some teachers)
- 12:00 – 12:30 restock
- 12:15 – 1:00 2nd shift (staff and teachers)
- 1:00 – 2:00 clean up
Grade Level Room Parents: Please call and remind your classes to bring in their items. Send out an invitation to all teachers, staff, and office personnel one week before the luncheon. Put it in their inboxes, post invitations on the teacher bulletin boards in the lounge and office, and send a last minute reminder slip the day before.
