Champions
Grade Level Champion Responsibilities
Grade Level Champions (1-2 per grade) are valuable resources for the parents and Room Parents of their respective grades. Grade Level Champions contribute to grade level cohesiveness and the overall Marquez community by answering questions, promoting participation in school events, supporting fundraising efforts and fostering volunteerism.
The specific responsibilities of Grade Level Champions include the following, which can be divided up among 2 champions in a grade:
- Parent Resource
- Answer questions regarding Marquez, Friends of Marquez/PTA, school events, school calendar, volunteer opportunities, Circle of Giving, fundraising programs, etc.
- Attend FOM/PTA meetings, as available, and encourage parent participation. (Usually the 3rd Thursday of each month, alternating mornings and evenings).
- Be familiar with the resources available on Marquez’s website.
- Room Parent Liaison:
- Recruit Room Parents (1-3 per class) with consideration to specific teacher needs / preferences.
- Maintain Room Parent roster for Grade Level and forward to FOM’s VP Communications (Mary Wlodek – mary@proactive-mktg.com).
- Be familiar with the school event calendar and forward communications regarding events in a timely manner.
- Forward school emails, including minutes of FOM meetings, to Room Parents upon receipt from various committee chairs. Room Parents will then forward emails to their class teacher and parents.
- Miscellaneous information distribution, including ongoing updates of available volunteer positions.
- Back-to-School Grade Level Meeting:
- Grade Level Champions are responsible for providing refreshments for their respective meetings; FOM will reimburse costs.
- Back-to-School Grade Level Picnic:

- 3 – 5 weeks prior to luncheon, organize a quick meeting or email your volunteers to work luncheon details. (i.e.: pick a theme, design a menu, divide up responsibilities, etc.)
- Facilitate the luncheon, or find a volunteer to manage the event.
