Parent Resources
We strive to make Marquez a friendly, welcoming place.
Parents are always welcome to visit the school. Please come to the office to fill out a “visitor’s permit” before visiting a classroom. Please limit any observation to 20 minutes. All of our teachers have email addresses on the Teachers Bio Pages. The Marquez email format is firstname.lastname@MarquezCharter.org. The office staff can also take messages for teachers and students during class time.
If you need to speak with a teacher please suggest a convenient time after class for the teacher to return your call. In case of an emergency, please indicate this and the teacher will call you as soon as possible. There are many ways to keep informed about activities at Marquez.
Your child will bring home many flyers and notes from school. All materials distributed to students not generated by or at the request of teachers relating to their class must be submitted to the principal’s office for review and approval. The originals of such materials must be submitted. Once the materials are approved and initialed, all copies should clearly show the initials.
We encourage everyone to submit their news and announcements for the weekly Newsletter, which is distributed electronically each Friday. Make sure you are subscribed by completing the electronic form on the right margin of this page!
Make sure to download the complete Parent Handbook
Everything you’ll need to know is in this printable document.

Other ways to keep informed include:
- The Friday Newsletter includes news from the principal and reminders about upcoming events.
- The Marquez Directory contains a listing of school committees, staff and faculty as well as a voluntary school-wide listing of children’s names, telephone numbers and addresses. It is for school-related use only and not for any commercial purpose.
- Back-to-School Night, a parent-only event held in the fall, allows parents to meet the teachers and learn about their academic programs and expectations.
- Open House is held in the spring and is a chance for you and your children to visit the classroom and view student projects.
- Attendance at school meetings, such as the monthly Marquez Governing Board, Friends of Marquez and PTA meetings, is also an excellent way of learning what is going on at school.
I’d like to arrange playdates with other children.
How can I get in touch with the other parents in our class? In the fall, room parents will compile a list for you of all the students in the class, their parents, names, addresses, emails and phone numbers. The Marquez Directory is published in late October or November and contains a listing of the names, telephone numbers and addresses of all Marquez students.
