About
STAR Education has grown vastly over the past 25 years and is incredibly proud to serve thousands of children across California. STAR Education’s programming takes many forms: enrichment opportunities, GATE classes, environmental science classes, team sports, RockSTAR, tutoring, and full service after school care and enrichment, to name a few. STAR always aims to support the school’s children and community, and an integral part of this goal is ensuring the participation of all children, regardless of academic standing or socioeconomic status.
Mission
STAR Education’s mission is to offer extended educational, recreational, and enrichment programs to students; support and enhance school curriculum; improve student achievement; and expand the cultural base of young people through innovative, quality programs offered by highly qualified instructors.
Programs
Jb4K (Just Before Kindergarten)
Jb4K (just before kindergarten) is a stepping-stone for kids in transition between pre-school and kindergarten. Jb4K will give students the opportunity to grow socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually in a safe educational environment. Jb4K, while focusing on boosting self esteem and building character, will introduce the necessary kindergarten readiness skills to be successful in kindergarten. Allow Jb4K to be a building block toward a stronger, brighter future.
Kindergarten Galaxy
The Marquez STAR Kindergarten Galaxy program is here to inspire life skills, encourage critical thinking, and build moral fiber. Designed especially for Kindergartners at Marquez, this program compliments the Kindergarten curriculum, as we partner with the school in providing enrichment skills necessary to be successful in our world! STAR kindergarten will include enrichment classes such as: Spanish, Sports, Storytelling, Little Picasso, Sign It, Around The World, Math Plus, Theater, Science Explosion, Cooking, and many more.
- HOURS: Monday through Friday 1:30 – 3:00 Extended hours available until 6:00pm

NOVA Enrichment Classes
Enrichment classes are available to students in grades K thru 5th after school in 8 to 10 Week Sessions. Each class is offered one day a week and is limited in space to provide a quality learning experience for appropriate grade levels. A SAMPLE of classes are shown below:
- MONDAY: Guitar, RockStar, Mathplus, Sewing, Photography
- TUESDAY: Drawing, Soccer, Piano, Baton, French
- WEDNESDAY: EcoStation, Chess, Spanish, Cooking, Dungeons/Dragons
- THURSDAY: Hebrew, Woodworking, Gymnastics, Tap, Karate
- FRIDAY: Clay Creation, Theatrical Fencing, Science, Yoga, Algebra
- Basketball League – For those in grades 2 – 5 who love sports Marquez STAR participates in the STAR Basketball league. Practice begins in January with games starting in February.
IQ GO Math/Homework Club- An exciting class that enables you to participate and improve your math skills as well as work on homework. Class meets 4 days per week for 1 hour.

* STAR also offers Private Piano and Violin lessons.
After School Galaxy
The S.T.A.R. Education after school program offered to students in Kindergarten through fifth grade at Marquez provides an afternoon experience including supervised homework, enhanced educational enrichment classes and organized activities for the students at Marquez who need an extended school day until 6:00pm. STAR meets every school day from school dismissal until 6:00pm and all students MUST be signed out by an authorized adult.
SAMPLE SCHEDULE:
- 3:00 – 3:15 Attendance & Snack
- 3:15 – 4:00 Supervised Homework
- 4:00 – 4:45 Outside Activities
- 4:45 – 5:30 Enrichment Classes
- 5:30 – 6:00 Organized Games
A $50.00 (non-refundable) Registration Fee is required with this enrollment form. Sliding scale scholarships are available, subject to need and availability.
