Phillip A. Hollis – Principal (310) 454-4019

Mr. Hollis was hired as the new Principal at Marquez over the summer of 2006. He comes to us from Beckford Avenue Elementary School in Northridge, where he was Assistant Principal. He also held a split assistant-principal position for a year at Community Magnet in Bel-Air and Canyon Charter. Mr. Hollis earned his B.A. in environmental studies from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, B.Ed. from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, teaching credential from UCLA, and M.Ed. from CSUN. Originally from Kakabeka Falls in Ontario, Canada, he came to Los Angeles in 1988 for a teaching position and has fam-ily that lives here. His aspiration for Marquez is first to attain California Distinguished School status and then to become a National Blue Ribbon school.Mr. Hollis loves to hike, play the piano, which he started just 1½ years ago, read courtroom mystery novels, play golf and spend time at his family home in Lake Tahoe. He spent a summer teaching English in Korea.
